President Myriam Spiteri Debono Marks 2 Years In Office

Today marks 2 years since Her Excellence Myriam Spiteri Debono began her presidency in Malta.

She started her presidency at the age of 71.

Before her presidency, H.E Myriam Spiteri Debono worked as a notary after obtaining a degree at the University of Malta in both English and Law, completing her undergraduate studies in 1980.

She also had a career in politics as a candidate for the Labour Party in five general elections.

Despite never being elected as a Member of Parliament, President Myriam Spiteri Debono served as Speaker of the House of Representatives between 1996 and 1998.

Throughout her tenure, she has also taken on a strong cultural and philanthropic role.

She serves as patron of the Malta Biennale, reinforcing her commitment to the arts. At the same time, she has actively supported major charitable initiatives linked to the Malta Community Chest Fund.

Events such as Istrina, the President’s Walk, and Rockestra have continued under her watch, raising substantial funds for vulnerable individuals and families across Malta.

Presdient Spiteri Debono sadly lost her husband to cancer during her presidency, further fuelling her devotion to helping those struggling with illness, along with their families.
