Preparations In Full Swing Ahead Of Tonight's Eurovision Semifinal

Preparations are in full swing ahead of tonight’s first Malta Eurovision night!
Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government, Owen Bonnici visited MFCC as rehearsals and work to organise the Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026 take place.
The road to the Eurovision Song Contest in Vienna begins this week with two live broadcasts on Television Malta. Eighteen original songs will be performed during the Semi Final on Thursday 15 January, with twelve advancing to the Final on Saturday 17 January.
The Malta Eurovision Song Contest 2026 will be presented by Keane Cutajar, alongside Gaia Cauchi and Destiny, with additional performances by Jamie Cardona, Ivan Grech and last year’s winner Miriana Conte.
International artists will also leave their mark.
Minister Bonnici highlighted that this year’s production places strong emphasis on the holistic development of local talent. While singers take centre stage, equal importance is given to lyricists, composers, choreographers and technical designers, whose collective work underpins the success of the industry.
He noted that investing in the artist as a whole is essential for Maltese talent to achieve higher standards and gain stronger international exposure.
He added that the Eurovision Festival also serves as a cultural bridge, encouraging dialogue and cooperation between countries through music and shared creative expression.
The Minister expressed his appreciation to more than 700 workers, including technicians and public broadcasting staff, who are working continuously at Ta’ Qali to deliver a high quality production that reflects Malta’s creative potential.
