Polish Tourist Charged With Murder Already Wanted In Poland For Causing Bodily Harm

A 27-year-old Polish tourist charged with the murder of a 31-year-old Moroccan man was previously wanted in Poland on suspicion of causing bodily harm.

Sebastian Malinowski, whom sources said was due to leave Malta today, was taken to court on Monday morning and charged in front of magistrate Kevan Azzopardi.

He was charged with wilful homicide, grievous bodily harm leading to death and recidivism. Malinowski pleaded not guilty to all charges.

He is suspected of killing Abdellatif Oumakhlouf, who was found dead in Spinola Gardens on St George's Road in St Julian's on Sunday morning.

Times of Malta is informed that Oumakhlouf was found with a deep cut on the back of his head in the garden.

He is believed to have been punched, fallen backwards, hit his head on concrete and bled to death.

In Monday's arraignment, the court heard how police were alerted to the presence of a man suffering serious head injuries at 6.30am on Sunday.

CCTV footage from the area showed an altercation between the victim and another man.

Police traced the footage to St George's Bay, where Malinowski was found wearing the same clothes as in the CCTV footage.

He was arrested on the spot and taken to the St Julian's police station, before eventually being escorted to the Floriana police headquarters.

Polish police records reveal that this is not Malinowski’s first brush with the law.

Last December, police in the Polish city of Gdansk issued a wanted notice for Malinowski. The notice, dated December 15, 2025, said he was wanted on suspicion of causing bodily harm.

According to the Polish criminal code, the crime carries a maximum two-year sentence.

However, sources told Times of Malta that Malinowski was not on a Europol wanted list, meaning it would not have been flagged to local or international authorities.
