Police Dismantle Two Illegal Bird Trapping Sites In Delimara

The Environmental Protection Unit (EPU) Police have dismantled two illegal bird trapping sites in Delimara, confiscating all equipment found at the locations, according to the Malta Ranger Unit.
In a post on social media, the Malta Ranger Unit said its rangers had spent the morning in Delimara, Marsaxlokk, where they documented illegal dumping and reported it for removal.
The rangers said they had been informed that the dumping typically takes place during the late evening and urged the public to remain alert and report any relevant information.
The Malta Ranger Unit noted that Delimara remains a challenging area due to spotters who monitor the movements of police officers, rangers and other people, relaying information to poachers so they can leave before the police arrive.
During the same operation, rangers also carried out a joint inspection with the Community Policing Team at St Paul’s Battery to address illegal fires, littering and damage to trees.
They spoke to people who frequently use the area and distributed leaflets outlining the site's regulations.
