The Police Force’s budget will increase by more than €16 million in 2027, reaching almost €150 million, as the Government continues to invest in policing, training, technology and human resources.

The announcement was made by Minister for Home Affairs and Security Glenn Bedingfield during a visit to new police recruits at the Academy for Disciplined Bodies, alongside Police Commissioner Angelo Gafà.

Minister Bedingfield said the increased investment reflects the Government’s commitment to building a modern, professional and motivated Police Force, equipped with the necessary skills and resources to serve the public effectively.

He encouraged recruits to take their training seriously, describing policing as a commitment to protecting communities rather than simply a job.

The Minister also highlighted the introduction of a Pre-Tertiary Certificate in Policing as part of the recruitment programme.

Meanwhile, Gafà urged recruits to persevere through training challenges, stressing that resilience is essential to effective policing.
