A heartfelt tribute has marked the end of an era for Robert Cutajar, who is no longer serving as a Member of Parliament and Opposition Whip for the Nationalist Party, after yesterday's announcement that Malta will head to the polls on the 30th of May.

A few weeks ago, Cutajar announced that he would not be contesting the upcoming general election and would therefore retire from national politics.

In an emotional message shared online, his son, Andy Cutajar, expressed immense pride in his father’s political journey, praising his unwavering commitment to helping others. He described him as “an example to every aspiring politician,” highlighting how his work went beyond his district to assist any citizen in need.

Andy emphasised that his father always placed service above politics, helping people regardless of their political beliefs and remaining dedicated from his very first day in office until his last. “You entered politics to serve your country, and you truly did,” he wrote.

Looking ahead, Andy noted that this new chapter will allow for more family time, including enjoying shared passions like watching football together.
