PN Proposes Up To €1,050 Yearly Grants, Free Doctor Home Visits, And Cheaper Elderly Home Fees For Senior Citizens

PN Leader Alex Borg this morning announced a series of proposals aimed at supporting elderly people financially while encouraging them to continue living independently in their own homes for longer.
Under the proposal, elderly people aged over 80 who continue living at home would receive a yearly grant of €1,050. Those aged between 75 and 79 would receive €850 annually, while those aged between 70 and 74 would receive €500 a year.
The proposal also includes free home visits by the elderly person’s family doctor of choice, fully funded by the government, giving older people more medical support while remaining in the comfort of their own homes.
At the same time, the PN is also proposing lower fees for residents living in Government elderly homes, with elderly residents expected to save an average of €3,600 per year.
The measures aim to improve the quality of life of elderly people, while also encouraging more seniors to remain living independently at home for as long as possible. This could help reduce pressure on elderly care homes and residential facilities, while allowing older people to stay closer to their families, communities, and familiar surroundings.
