PN Proposes 'One Stop Shop' For Issuing Maltese Passports, ID Cards, & More

The Nationalist Party has proposed a major overhaul of Malta’s residency and employment permit system as part of its plans to reduce bureaucracy and improve public services.

Among the key proposals is an “holistic reform” of the process for issuing residence and work permits, aimed at making applications more efficient for both foreign workers and employers.

The party also pledged to establish dedicated One Stop Shops for a range of Government services. One centre would handle the issuance of Maltese passports, identity cards, civil status documents, public act registrations and residence certificates.

A separate One Stop Shop would be created specifically for employers and services related to foreign workers, with the PN arguing that the reform would streamline procedures and cut unnecessary administrative delays.
