PN Proposes €2,000 Yearly Grant For Women Who Stayed Home To Raise Families

PN Leader Alex Borg this morning announced a proposal which would give a yearly €2,000 grant to women who spent years working from home to raise their families.
The proposal forms part of the PN’s electoral manifesto ahead of the upcoming general election on 30th May, with the party pledging to introduce the measure if elected to government.
The idea behind the proposal is to recognise the contribution of women who may have sacrificed careers or full-time employment in order to care for children and manage the home. In many cases, this unpaid work helped support families and society, despite not always resulting in higher pensions or financial benefits later in life.
From a broader perspective, the measure aims to acknowledge caregiving and family-raising as valuable work, while also helping women who may face lower pensions or reduced financial security in older age because they spent years outside the workforce.
Alex Borg was speaking during the announcement of several PN proposals aimed at pensioners and elderly people. These included a minimum yearly pension increase of €650 for all pensioners, grants for elderly people who continue living in their own homes, cheaper Government elderly home fees, free doctor home visits funded by the government, free medicine delivery to elderly homes, and pension supplements for grandparents who care for grandchildren while parents work.
The proposals aim to strengthen financial support for pensioners while encouraging stronger family support systems and more independent living for elderly people.
