During a political activity in Qormi, PN Leader Alex Borg outlined a series of new proposals aimed at supporting families, young people, businesses, pensioners and the environment.

Borg highlighted that the PN wants to offer “a concrete and serious vision” for Malta, touching on issues raised by different members of society.

Key proposals included:

For families: A new tax band called PARENT 2, giving families with a second child or more an extra €8,500 a year. PN is also insisting on its proposal for one year of fully paid parental leave and plans for more open spaces for families.

For young people & housing: Government-backed loans, first-time buyer schemes and the use of vacant properties for affordable housing.

For pensioners: Appointment of a spokesperson for loneliness, new care homes in Malta and Gozo, and justice for pensioners born before 1962 who receive lower pensions.

For businesses: Reduction of corporate tax to 15% for Maltese businesses, while foreign companies will also pay 15% instead of 5%. VAT on restaurants would be slashed from 18% to 7%.

For tourism: A shift towards quality tourism with a focus on gastronomy, agritourism and culture, similar to models abroad that increased income while reducing overcrowding.

For the environment: PN will table a historic bill to enshrine the environment in the Constitution as a fundamental right, while also pushing for planning reform and sensible development.

Borg also promised to defend Gozo’s unique character and safeguard Malta’s identity, announcing the creation of a spokesperson for national identity.

The Qormi event was part of the PN’s “Qrib Tagħkom” tour, with Borg insisting that these proposals show the party’s commitment to real solutions for the country’s future.
