Partit Nazzjonalista has unveiled a series of new education-focused proposals as part of its electoral manifesto during a political discussion in Ħaż-Żebbuġ led by Alex Borg.

Among the key proposals announced was a revision of the national curriculum for both primary and secondary schools, with the PN stating that it wants to simplify and modernise the curriculum to better reflect today’s realities and future workforce demands.

The party also pledged to improve the financial packages and working conditions of educators, including teachers and Learning Support Educators (LSEs), describing them as essential pillars of the education system.

Another major proposal includes increasing stipends for students studying health-related subjects to the equivalent of Malta’s minimum wage, around €1,000 per month, in an effort to encourage more students to enter the healthcare sector.

The PN additionally promised a 25% increase in stipends for all students, aimed at easing the financial pressures brought about by the rising cost of living while further investing in young people’s education.

The manifesto proposals also include a €1,000 tax reduction for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) offering apprenticeships, with the party saying the measure would encourage more businesses to provide practical training opportunities for students entering the workforce.
