PN Needs To Bring Back Experience Politicians, Says Former MP David Thake

Taking to social media, former Nationalist MP David Thake made reference to a recent MaltaToday survey, saying that it raises some important points.
‘Bernard Grech was obsessed with pushing out everyone that he thought was “old”, including myself’, said Thake.
He said this was the case with ‘many tried and trusted people like Mario Galea, Jason Azzopardi, Clyde Puli, Kristy Debono, Jean Pierre Debono, Joe Ellis, etc.’
Others, he said, were brought to the decision they were done with politics, including people like Chris Said, Claudio Grech and Marchese Portelli.
‘He wanted new faces, pushed out established people and promoted new. The ridiculous constitutional amendment that allows Female candidates to get into parliament with a handful of votes also meant that a large number of new - but not necessarily capable - people were voted in.’
‘Today's survey indicates that not all the new PN faces inspire confidence in the electorate. People are not so impressed with selfies, facebook posts and smiles. They want substance’, he added. ‘They might also be inclined to accept dirty politicians over uninspiring ones.’
‘The PN needs to bring back it's experienced politicians - if they want to return of course. Some of these people have already been in cabinet. They can give reassurance that a PN government will hit the ground running not posing for selfies.’
The MaltaToday survey in question found that only 8% believe the Nationalist Party will wi next election, with 52% foreseeing a Labour victory.
