PN MEP Peter Agius Raises Concerns Over Accessibility Of Energy Drinks

Peter Agius, PN Member of European Parliament, has raised concerns over the accessibility of energy drinks to children.
“I was reading a study that in the UK energy drinks have been banned for children under 16 years old,” stated Agius in a reel posted to his Facebook.
He shared that energy drinks for children may be dangerous as anyone under 18’s brain is still developing.
Agius claimed that energy drinks have as much caffeine as 4 espressos and 14 teaspoons of sugar.
Caffeine affects children’s ability to memorise and learn new information, stated Agius.
Apart from this, Agius also raised concerns regarding the obesity rates in Malta.
“It’s difficult to be a parent nowadays,” continued Agius in relation to the accessibility of stuff like energy drinks to children as they can obtain them behind their parents’ backs.
