PN LEADER ALEX BORG UNVEILS “FRESH BREATH” PLAN FOR GOZO

Alex Borg has outlined a wide-ranging vision for Gozo, pledging that a future Nationalist Government would transform the island into a central driver of national growth rather than “an afterthought.”
Speaking outside the Gozo General Hospital, Borg presented a series of proposals aimed at improving accessibility, healthcare, infrastructure, and opportunities for Gozitans.
Central to the plan is the construction of a new 400-bed hospital, backed by a €350 million investment, alongside a 24-hour Victoria Health Centre.
He stressed that Gozo’s “double insularity” continues to impact families, businesses, and young people, arguing that improved connectivity, both physical and digital, is key to addressing these challenges.
Proposals include a new fleet for Gozo Channel, expanded harbour facilities, improved fast ferry services, and fully electric public transport.
Among over 110 measures, Borg also announced plans for 150km of new and upgraded roads, a €9 million cultural fund, increased student grants, and investment in youth centres and disability services. He further proposed granting Gozo permanent regional status to unlock targeted EU funding.
Borg said the goal is to ensure equal access to services for those living in Gozo, positioning the island as a hub of opportunity and innovation for the future.
