PN Leader Alex Borg Puts Forth 10 Health Election Proposals

During a mass rally held yesterday evening in front of the Partit Nazzjonalista’s Dar Ċentrali, PN Leader Alex Borg outlined a series of key proposals aimed at strengthening Malta’s healthcare system.

Central to his plan is the construction of new hospitals across Malta and Gozo. Borg pledged a completely new hospital in the north of Malta, the transformation of the Paola Hub into a hospital, significant upgrades to Mater Dei Hospital, and the long-promised general hospital in Gozo.

These projects form part of a wider strategy to improve efficiency and accessibility in healthcare services.

He also announced the creation of a high-quality centre focused on prevention, rehabilitation, and the promotion of healthier lifestyles, combining physical and mental health services under one roof.

Borg emphasised the importance of reducing waiting times, committing to a process that would eliminate delays for operations so patients receive timely treatment.

To address overcrowding, the PN is proposing a comprehensive plan that includes strengthening primary health centres to provide urgent care, diagnostics, and minor procedures with extended hours.

Additional measures include coordinated patient discharge planning and improved community follow-up.

Borg further committed to better salaries and working conditions for healthcare workers, alongside the introduction of a unified digital system for medical records and access to services. He also pledged that all cancer medicines prescribed by consultants would be provided free of charge.

These proposals, Borg said, are designed to deliver a more efficient, patient-centred healthcare system for all.
