PN Confirms Dar Ċentrali Is Not Going Anywhere As Alex Borg Adds Valletta Office

The Nationalist Party has clarified that Dar Ċentrali will remain the PN’s headquarters, following Alex Borg’s announcement that he will be opening an additional office in Valletta.

Speaking to Malta Daily, the Nationalist Party confirmed that its headquarters in Pietà will remain under the ownership of the PN and continue serving the same functions it does today.

The clarification comes after Opposition and PN Leader Alex Borg announced on Sunday that he would establish an office in Valletta, describing the move as the “next step towards Castille”.

However, this does not mean that the PN itself is leaving Pietà.

Instead, Borg will have an additional office in Valletta, placing the Opposition Leader closer to Parliament and Malta’s political centre, while Dar Ċentrali remains the party’s main headquarters.

The discussion surrounding the future use of the PN’s properties is not entirely new.

Former PN deputy leader Mario de Marco previously called for major changes to the way the party uses its assets and operates as part of efforts to improve its financial position.

In 2025, de Marco proposed relocating the PN leadership and headquarters from the Pietà building to the AŻAD building in Valletta, while also privatising NET TV and retaining limited airtime for political programming. He said such decisions could help address the party’s financial situation.

His concerns over the PN’s finances stretch back further. In 2013, while contesting the party leadership, de Marco said addressing the PN’s financial situation should be among the new leader’s first priorities and called for the party’s commercial and political operations to be separated.

More recently, Borg has spoken about making better use of unused areas at Dar Ċentrali, including the possible commercialisation of vacant floors.
