Prime Minister Robert Abela yesterday visited 15-year-old Ibrahim Mahir Wasfi Wishah, a youth from Gaza who is receiving medical treatment in Malta.

Ibrahim is currently undergoing therapy at St Luke’s Hospital, where professionals are supporting his steady progress towards recovery. Dr Abela encouraged him to persevere with rehabilitation and to look forward to living as independently as possible.

Ibrahim was brought to Malta last April together with other injured persons from Gaza under an initiative coordinated through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism with the participation of Malta’s Civil Protection Department.

On arrival, he received treatment at Mater Dei Hospital for severe orthopaedic injuries to his right leg sustained in an explosion in Gaza.

In July he was referred to physiotherapy and the Orthotics and Prosthetics Unit, where a multidisciplinary team designed a rehabilitation plan to help him regain mobility and independence.

The Prime Minister said Malta’s humanitarian assistance is making a real difference, highlighting Ibrahim’s progress and that of others receiving care.

He was accompanied by Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela, who expressed gratitude to medical professionals. Palestinian Ambassador Fadi Hanania also attended the visit
