PM Visits Junior College & University Of Malta Students

Prime Minister Robert Abela visited Ġ.F. Abela Junior College and the University of Malta during Freshers’ Week, where he encouraged students to pursue their studies as a pathway to future success.
He assured them that the Government remains committed to supporting young people in achieving their goals, highlighting that stipends will continue to provide essential financial assistance.

Abela reminded students that stipends had been doubled under his Government, with more than €40 million invested annually.
He also referred to the €500 yearly grant, available for three years, which benefits over 12,000 parents and nearly 14,000 students. This scheme represents an additional €7 million investment aimed at encouraging continued education.

The Prime Minister noted that Malta’s early school leaving rate has fallen below 10% and stressed the need to reduce it even further. He also urged students to embrace activism, pointing to the Youth Advisory Forum as a platform for young people to contribute fresh ideas to national debates.
Accompanied by his wife, Lydia Abela, and Education Minister Clifton Grima, the Prime Minister toured Freshers’ Week stands and engaged with students. This year, the University of Malta is welcoming about 5,200 students, while Junior College has around 2,100 enrolled.
