PM Thanks All Enemalta Employees Working In Extreme Heat

Speaking during a presser, Prime Minister Robert Abela thanked all the Enemalta employees working tirelessly in the sun and extreme heat trying to remedy various power cuts around the islands.
Abela also issued an apology to all those who suffered a power cut in the past hours, saying that officials are working tirelessly to bring back power to all those impacted.
He said that from 2022/23 the government invested a lot in strengthening Malta’s power distribution system. He said that as of the closing of last year amounted to €1,61 million, including a distribution centre and the changing of various power cables which required change.
Abela said that the impact of climate change is not an excuse, despite its very real impact on not just Malta but other countries around Europe and the rest of the world.
‘We did a lot, but there still remains more to be done’, he said.
He also pointed to the coming works by the installation of the second inter-connector between Sicily and Malta, which will boost energy capacity by 200 megawatts.
