Prime Minister and Labour Party Leader Robert Abela has reaffirmed that a Labour government remains the sole guarantee for public sector workers in Malta and Gozo, as well as for national traditions such as hunting, sport, and village feasts.

Speaking during a political event in Victoria, Gozo, themed “Prosperity for the Maltese,” Abela criticised the Nationalist Party’s stance towards Gozitan public sector employees, insisting that his government will not launch investigations into them as requested by PN MP Karol Aquilina.

He called on the Opposition to apologise, saying its actions portray Aquilina as an “inquisitor” against Gozitan workers.

The Prime Minister also emphasised Labour’s commitment to supporting local pastimes, stating that his government will “protect and strengthen” activities such as hunting, fireworks, and motorsports, all of which contribute to Malta’s cultural identity.

The Prime Minister announced several new projects for Gozo, including the Victoria Park, featuring open green spaces and an underground car park, as well as ongoing road infrastructure works and major investments in sports facilities.

He noted that Gozo’s economy has grown faster than Malta’s in recent years, with Labour creating over 7,000 new jobs on the island since taking office.
