Prime Minister Robert Abela has announced a major €150 million investment in Malta’s MedTech sector by global company Vantive, a project expected to create 250 high-quality jobs and further strengthen the country’s position in advanced manufacturing.

Accompanied by Minister for the Economy, Enterprise and Strategic Projects Silvio Schembri, Dr Abela described the initiative as a historic milestone, noting that it represents the largest foreign direct investment ever secured by Malta. The project will see Vantive establish state-of-the-art manufacturing and research facilities, serving as a global hub for the production of essential plastic medical devices and consumables used in critical kidney treatments. Construction is expected to begin in the coming weeks.

The Prime Minister said the investment reflects strong international confidence in Malta’s economy and forms part of a broader long-term vision outlined in Vision Malta 2050. He explained that the country is continuing to build on its success in pharmaceuticals and advanced manufacturing by creating specialised industry clusters with long-term growth potential.

Silvio Schembri highlighted that the investment follows months of negotiations and positions Malta to attract more high-value, innovation-driven industries. He encouraged young people to pursue careers in MedTech, advanced manufacturing, and related technological fields.

Vantive’s Senior Director for Manufacturing Strategy, Brian Tabone, said the company chose Malta due to its strong manufacturing reputation, skilled workforce, and supportive business environment. He added that the project will enhance Vantive’s global operations while continuing to deliver essential medical solutions to patients worldwide.
