Prime Minister Robert Abela outlined a number of key priorities for the government during an interview held today, highlighting initiatives aimed at supporting farmers, embracing innovation, and strengthening social services.

Abela referred to the Cabinet’s first decision of the new legislature, which focuses on protecting agricultural land at Wied iż-Żrinġ, located near the edge of the Bulebel Industrial Zone.

He also announced that farmers will be granted additional protection through measures that will give them title over land they have been cultivating for years.

The Prime Minister also discussed the recently launched artificial intelligence subscription scheme, which provides access to AI tools for individuals who complete a short online course.

According to Abela, around 20,000 people have already begun benefiting from the initiative.

Turning to the government’s agenda, Abela said the first 100 days of Labour’s new legislature will involve a significant amount of work, stressing that the opening months of a legislature should set the tone for the years ahead.

He emphasised that Malta’s strong economic performance will continue to generate benefits for Maltese and Gozitan families.

Abela highlighted a Labour Party proposal to increase the number of state-funded IVF cycles from three to five, enabling more individuals and couples to access treatment locally.

He also revealed that as of next Saturday, parliament will be open once again.
