PM On Unity Between Government & Opposition

Speaking with journalists after his official meeting with Alex Borg after he was sworn in as Nationalist Party leader, Prime Minister Robert Abela said that it is not impossible for there to be unity between the government and the Opposition on various themes.

He said that this has happened before and that he managed to work with Adrian Delia on the election of the Chief Justice back in 2020, and believes that there are upcoming projects which he can work with Alex Borg on.

He referred to two projects which he hopes to work closely with Borg with, namely the Marsa Regeneration Project and Land Reclamation.

Abela said that there will be topics on which there will be disagreements, referring to that of IVF or party financing.

However, continued Abela, showing unity can increase the belief of the public in the political class. He said that there was incredible cordiality in his meeting with Borg.
