PM Inaugurates Ċensu Moran Regional Health Centre

Prime Minister Robert Abela has inaugurated the Ċensu Moran Regional Health Centre, Malta’s first secondary hospital, following an investment of around €50 million.
The facility, located on six medical and three technical floors, has already been operating for several weeks.
It currently offers more than 50 medical services, including podiatry, physiotherapy, respiratory medicine, and immunology, with plans to expand to 150 services in the near future.
The Centre is equipped with modern technology and designed to provide care in a comfortable environment.
During the inauguration, Abela described the facility as “not merely a new building, but a declaration of our national vision, to ensure access to modern, dignified, and effective care for all.”
Abela said that Malta has high public confidence in its health services and said the Government would continue to invest in the sector.
The hospital is named after former Health Minister Ċensu Moran, in recognition of his contribution to the national health system.
Minister for Health and Active Ageing Jo Etienne Abela thanked the Foundation for Medical Services and the contractors involved, describing the project as a “living” one that reflects collaboration across primary, secondary, and tertiary healthcare.
He added that outpatient and day-case services are being expanded under the direction of secondary care, and that the new centre will allow Mater Dei Hospital to focus on in-patient services.
