Planning Authority Clarifies Compliance Of Ħaż-Żabbar Retirement Home Permit With Local Plan

The Planning Authority has issued a statement clarifying reports regarding the approved permit for the Old People’s Home in Ħaż-Żabbar, stating that the approved height for this development is fully in line with provisions of the Local Plan in relation of number of floors as interpreted by Annex 2 of DC15.

They emphasised that this application did not make use of the additional allowable height stipulated in the Height Limitation Adjustment Policy for Retirement Homes (2017), which permits two extra floors above the Local Plan limit.

The overall height of the building, which was originally set to be 23 metres, has been reduced to 17.5 metres, they stated, and the existing facade will be retained. Reportedly, the design has also been carefully followed to foster a sense of continuity within the piazza

“This approval reflects the established planning parameters for the locality and ensures that the development remains sensitive to its surroundings,” concluded The Planning Authority.
