The Ministry for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works has announced that a new pedestrian bridge will be constructed in Msida to improve mobility for hundreds of students and residents who cross the area daily. The bridge will safely connect the two sides of Msida, providing better access for public transport users.

The development was announced during a meeting between the Minister for Transport, Infrastructure, and Public Works, Chris Bonett, and the recently elected Junior College Student Council. The announcement follows the student organisation Pulse highlighting the need for such a bridge in its election manifesto. Minister Bonett discussed the importance of the project with the students and confirmed that the bridge will be implemented as part of the ongoing works by Infrastructure Malta.

Minister Bonett emphasised the importance of continuous dialogue with the wider community, including students. He stated, “Students can be important catalysts for change, and as a Government, we are committed to continuing to provide sustainable and reliable alternatives that encourage active mobility.”

He explained that the bridge will significantly improve pedestrian safety, strengthen connectivity, and remove the need for existing traffic lights.
