PL Proposes Lending 25% Of Property Value For 1st Time Buyers

The Labour Party is proposing MY FIRST HOME, whereby the government will lend up to 25% of the property value to first-time buyers, interest free.

As part of their 2026 election campaign manifesto, the government has announced a guarantee for eligible buyers to repay this interest-free portion and become sole owners of the property.

This is intended to save thousands of euros in interest payments.

‘Through MY FIRST HOME, all first-time buyers aged 23 and over will be eligible. The scheme will apply to properties with a maximum value of €300,000 for single applicants earning up to forty thousand euro.’

‘In the case of couples earning up to sixty thousand euro between them, the property value limit will increase to €350,000.’

‘This means that with twenty-five per cent financed by the Government, a single applicant can save up to €65,000 in interest, while a couple can save approximately €75,000 in interest.’
