Pjazza San Ġorġ to Be Transformed into Open-Air Opera Stage

On Saturday 6th September, the highly anticipated ‘Opera in the Capital’ will return to Pjazza San Ġorġ for another spectacular open-air concert, offering an enchanting evening of music that blends opera, film soundtracks, musical theatre and more.
The concert will feature renowned tenors Alan Sciberras and Cliff Zammit Stevens, alongside the versatile Nadine Axisa. Their performances will be brought to life by the Malta Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Ryan Paul Abela.
Minister for Culture, Lands and Local Government Owen Bonnici described the event as “a celebration of musical art and Valletta’s unique cultural heritage.
This concert will deliver an exceptional musical experience through a selection of operatic pieces, set against the stunning historical backdrop of Valletta’s architecture. Evenings like this continue to energise the capital as a thriving cultural hub.”
Valletta Cultural Agency Chairperson Jason Micallef added that the 2025 edition marks the fifth anniversary of this much-loved series. “Following the great success of previous years, this is one of many high-quality events the Agency organises in the heart of Valletta. It’s a tribute to the city’s beauty and a response to the growing demand for outdoor cultural experiences.
With limited seating available, I encourage the public to secure their place early.”
The concert will celebrate music from various genres, including operatic masterpieces, iconic film scores, and musical theatre favourites.
