Pietà Marina Garden Reopens After Major Regeneration

The Pietà Marina Garden, covering over 4,400 square metres in the heart of Pietà, has been fully regenerated and reopened to the public. The project was led by the Grand Harbour Regeneration Corporation (GHRC) in collaboration with Ambjent Malta and the Department of Public Works.

Once neglected, the garden is now a safe and accessible space for families, children, the elderly, and anyone looking for recreation or exercise. Improvements include restored benches, new swings, an outdoor exercise area, upgraded pathways, a renovated fountain, and better lighting.

Minister for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness Miriam Dalli said the garden provides a clean, safe, and enjoyable space that respects its history while offering new opportunities for recreation. Parliamentary Secretary for Public Works Omar Farrugia highlighted the ongoing efforts to create more pedestrian-friendly areas and open spaces for Maltese families.
The project also included planting new trees and shrubs, installing a sustainable irrigation system, and preserving existing monuments. The inauguration was attended by local council representatives and key officials from GHRC, Ambjent Malta, and the Department of Public Works.
This regeneration complements previous investments along the Msida seafront and Pietà promenade, creating a continuous and modern public space around the Grand Harbour.
