Petition Launched For Safer Firework Regulations In Malta

Ephrem Borg, a Maltese local, has launched a petition calling for more responsible firework regulations across Malta and Gozo.

“Malta’s village feasts are an important part of out cultural heritage, and this petition is not about banning fireworks,” he emphasised, “It is about making celebrations safer, more sustainable, and more considerate of communities, animals, and the environment.”

The petition calls for stronger safety regulations and enforcement, better protection for surrounding residents and animals, limits on prolonged firework activity, promotion of low noise fireworks, drone displays, and other modern alternatives, and an independent national review of the fireworks sector.

The movement has already garnered widespread attention with over 3,400 signatures already.
