A petition created in favour of getting Sandra Gauci a seat in parliament has now surpassed 4,500 signatures, with many pushing for the demands to be met.

Many are arguing that the Gauci, the chairperson of ADPD, deserves to be a Member of Parliament following the strong number of votes she received during last Saturday’s election.

Under Malta’s current system, Gauci will not be given the position of MP as her party, ADPD, did not qualify.

Many are stating that this is not fair and goes against democracy, with one of the most notable critics being Arnold Cassola, leader of Momentum.

The petition demands “that Parliament and the Electoral Commission end this injustice and reform the system immediately.”

“Respect the voters. Respect democracy. Give Sandra Gauci her seat,” petition creators concluded.

The petition has now amassed a total of 4,535. So far no statements have been made by the government or opposition regarding the situation.
