Pet Fun Day Announced For 5 October In Xagħra, Gozo

Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Rights, Anton Refalo, together with the Minister for Gozo and Planning, Clint Camilleri, have announced that on Sunday, 5 October 2025, a Pet Fun Day will be held at Pjazza Mitħna ta’ Kola in Xagħra, Gozo. The event is being organised by the Xagħra Local Council with the support of both ministries, as well as a number of organisations and entities.

The Pet Fun Day promises to offer a unique experience for families and all those who care about animals. The programme includes dog shows, educational sessions, information stands, as well as essential services such as microchipping and veterinary advice. The event aims to combine entertainment with education while raising awareness about animal care and responsibility.

Minister Anton Refalo stated, “This event is not only an opportunity for families and pet owners to enjoy a day full of activities, but also a clear message in favour of proper animal welfare. I would like to thank the Xagħra Local Council, animal welfare organisations, veterinarians, NGOs and all the volunteers who, through their commitment, are making this event possible. Thanks to their dedication, Pet Fun Day will be a memorable experience for everyone attending.”

Minister Clint Camilleri added, “All families are invited to come along with their pets. There will be a variety of activities and informative sessions, ensuring a pleasant outing for everyone in this typical village setting, in such a beautiful area. I therefore encourage everyone to make a date for this coming Sunday in Xagħra, by the Mitħna ta’ Kola.”

Xagħra Mayor Victor Curmi commented, “As a local council, we are very proud to be organising Pet Fun Day in Xagħra. This initiative not only provides entertainment for all families, but also helps us nurture a culture of respect and care towards animals. I would like to thank the Ministries and all the entities supporting this event. This is one of many collaborations we are undertaking, and thanks to this commitment we look forward to hosting a successful activity.”
