On the seventh anniversary of the assassination of Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, hundreds gathered in Valletta to honour her memory and demand justice.

Family members, friends, and supporters took to the streets, paying tribute to the investigative journalist who was killed in a car bomb explosion on October 16, 2017. The crowd, united in calls for accountability, chanted phrases such as “Mafia”, “Corrupt”, “Daphne was right”, “7 years without justice”, and “Criminals”.

Civil society organisations ‘Repubblika’ and ‘Occupy Justice’ played a prominent role in organising the demonstration, continuing their long-standing fight for justice in Caruana Galizia’s name.

Nationalist Party leader Bernard Grech was also in attendance, standing in solidarity with the calls for accountability. Despite the ongoing investigations, many in Malta still believe that justice has not been fully served.
