The Partit Nazzjonalista will once again hold its Independence celebrations at the Granaries in Floriana, returning to the location after an eight-year absence.

This year marks the 62nd anniversary of Malta’s Independence, and PN Secretary General Charles Bonello said the return to the Granaries was fitting due to its proximity to the area where Malta achieved Independence in 1964.

Speaking during an intervention on NET Television, Bonello launched this year’s celebrations and announced that the festivities will take place between 18 and 20 September. The three-day programme will include activities aimed at attracting people of all ages and interests.

Alongside political activities and discussions, the Indifest entertainment programme will be held every evening, featuring family-oriented events, musical performances and activities for children.

Bonello explained that the programme will include discussions, entertainment on the main stage and a dedicated children’s area. Food and drink stalls will also be available throughout the Granaries.

The annual Independence Run, organised by Tim Sport Partit Nazzjonalista, will also form part of the celebrations. On the eve of Independence Day, a wreath-laying ceremony will be held at the Independence Monument before activities continue.

The celebrations will conclude on Sunday, 20 September, with a mass meeting addressed by PN Leader Alex Borg, followed by the raising of the Maltese flag at midnight.
