Partit Nazzjonalista Highlights Malta’s Role in International Affairs

The Partit Nazzjonalista (PN) believes that Malta has the potential to play a leading role in international peace efforts, emphasizing the country’s history of contributing to global matters. This includes Malta’s recent leadership in a Middle East resolution and bringing attention to the challenges posed by rising sea levels due to climate change.
During the annual New Year exchange of greetings with Ambassadors and members of the Diplomatic Corps at Dar Ċentrali, PN Leader Bernard Grech discussed Malta’s role on the international stage.Reflecting on 2024, Grech described it as another year of hard work for the Partit Nazzjonalista, which saw positive outcomes, such as the party’s strong performance in the European Parliament elections, securing the highest number of votes since these elections were introduced in Malta. Additionally, the PN reclaimed six local councils in the Local Council elections.
Grech also highlighted the re-election of Roberta Metsola, a PN Member of the European Parliament, as President of the European Parliament for a second term. He praised her ongoing efforts to strengthen the European Union and increase the European Parliament’s connection with EU citizens.
The PN Leader emphasized the importance of staying alert to developments in neighboring countries, including the situation in Gaza and Lebanon, the Ukraine-Russia conflict, and the future of Syria following the fall of the Assad regime in October.
Grech also offered his best wishes to Donald Trump, who is set to assume the Presidency of the United States, and expressed hope for continued strengthening of bilateral relations between Malta and the United States.
In conclusion, Bernard Grech wished the Ambassadors a productive year ahead and expressed optimism about improving relations between countries for the benefit of all peoples.
