Momentum has added a new proposal to its electoral manifesto, increasing its total number of policies from 259 to 260, with a pledge to transform the undeveloped sections of Fort Chambray into a national park.

The proposal follows a widely shared WhatsApp video calling for a major green space in Gozo, which the party said highlighted the urgent need for community-focused public areas on the island.

Momentum stated that the project would focus on preserving the historic site overlooking ix-Xatt l-Aħmar, including the endangered British barracks located within the fort. The party described the barracks as the only surviving example of British military residential architecture in Gozo.

Momentum candidate Carmel Asciak said: “We are completely in favour of returning Fort Chambray to the public.” He added that Gozitans “deserve the exact same ambition and quality of life” as residents in Malta.
