The ParksInMalta web app gives the public easy access to information about open and recreational spaces across Malta and Gozo. The platform features more than 200 gardens, parks, and playgrounds, allowing users to find locations and check details of events taking place at each site.

The initiative was launched by Environment Minister Dr Miriam Dalli during a press conference with Health Minister Dr Jo Etienne Abela. Developed by Project Green, the web app provides information on facilities such as wheelchair-accessible paths, inclusive play areas, outdoor gyms, public conveniences, and designated picnic zones.

Dr Dalli highlighted the role of open and green spaces in supporting mental health. She said, “This is one of the initiatives closest to my heart. In just a few seconds, you can see where more than 200 recreational areas are located, providing spaces for people to enjoy their leisure time.”

The Minister also pointed out that the 2026 Budget allocates €275 million to the Ministry for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness, the largest capital vote to date and a 26% increase over two years. Dr Dalli noted that Malta’s economic position allows continued investment in the environmental sector.

Dr Abela stressed that accessible open spaces are important for well-being and said the Government aims to promote awareness, prevention, and resilience, including through three community-based mental health centres included in the 2026 Budget.

“A strong economy is key to supporting further investment in the health of all citizens. The Government remains committed to providing the best care for families and children,” he added.
