Papaya Ltd & Blackcat Team Up With Malta’s Animal Welfare Community To Support Pet Adopters

The Malta Society for the Protection and Care of Animals (MSPCA) recently welcomed families who adopted dogs from its shelter to a dedicated workshop designed to guide them through the early stages of life with their new pets.
The event also served as the official launch of The Road to Home, an educational adoption booklet produced with the support of Papaya Ltd and other collaborators.

The workshop created a space for adopters to meet, exchange experiences and receive practical advice directly from the MSPCA team.
The organisation emphasised that adopting a pet is not a solitary journey and that ongoing guidance, resources and professional support remain available long after the adoption is finalised.
A key element of the session was a highly interactive presentation by canine training specialist Alison Azzopardi.

She outlined how families can establish healthy routines, recognise canine body language and address common early challenges such as fear responses, settling into new environments and separation issues.
She also responded to specific questions from participants, offering tailored advice based on the situations they are currently facing at home.
During the event, MSPCA introduced The Road to Home, a detailed guide that supports adopters in understanding both the emotional and practical aspects of welcoming a rescue animal.
The booklet covers essential themes including early adjustment, behaviour, daily care, enrichment, health and safety, as well as legal responsibilities for pet guardians in Malta.

Its production was made possible through the support of Papaya Ltd in line with its commitment to responsible pet ownership and community education.
The event concluded with open discussions between adopters, MSPCA staff and trainers, giving families reassurance, confidence and a sense of community as their dogs adapt to their new homes.
