Local

The iconic Anastasi Kiosk once again became a hotspot for football fans and collectors, as crowds gathered around the famous Valletta shop swapping Panini World Cup stickers ahead of next year’s tournament.

Known for decades as one of Malta’s most iconic destinations for card and sticker collecting, Anastasi has long been linked to football culture and Panini fever on the island. In recent days, collectors young and old were seen outside the shop and in its surrounding areas trading duplicate stickers and searching for the missing pieces needed to complete this year’s official World Cup album.

For many Maltese, the Panini tradition remains a nostalgic part of every World Cup cycle, bringing back childhood memories of opening fresh packs, comparing collections with friends, and hunting down rare stickers. Despite the rise of digital entertainment, the excitement surrounding the physical album continues to thrive year after year.

This year’s FIFA World Cup 2026 will take place across the United States, Canada and Mexico from 11 June until 19 July 2026, with anticipation already building among football fans worldwide.

And as the countdown to kick-off continues, one thing remains certain, the Panini sticker swapping tradition at Anastasi is still going as strong as ever.
