PANINA Donates €500 To Puttinu Cares After Viral 'Matthew Borg' Trend

A viral trend is currently going around on social media where establishments accuse a fake person of not paying their bill after ordering tons of food, all with the aim of showing off their menu.

Local business PANINA, run by Kurt Bezzina, hopped on the trend and accused a so-called Matthew Borg of walking out on their tab.

This led to many people tagging a bunch of men named Matthew Borg under the post, when one had a great idea.

“One of those who joined the conversation suggested that PANINA donate €5 for every unique Matthew Borg tagged in a follow-up post,” explained Puttinu Cares.

Through this light-hearted social media trend, €320 was raised, and Kurt rounded the donation up to €500.

“Today, Kurt visited Puttinu Cares to present the donation, together with some cannoli for the team,” stated Puttinu, thanking Kurt and everyone else who took part.

PANINA also took to social media, sharing that “giving back matters.”

“To all the Matthew Borgs (and everyone who tagged one!), thank you for being part of it,” they stated, “Puttinu Cares, the work you do for so many families is invaluable. Thank you for all that you do.”
