The PN has unveiled a new initiative titled PagaPensjoni, aimed at rewarding long-serving police officers who choose to remain on the force beyond retirement eligibility.

The proposal would allow officers who complete 25 years of service and decide to stay on for another 10 years to receive both their regular salary and the pension they would have been entitled to had they chosen to retire.

Alex Borg announced the proposal during a conference where he outlined several new measures focused on Malta’s home affairs sector, with particular emphasis on strengthening the police force and improving prison rehabilitation systems.

The initiative forms part of the PN’s wider vision to retain experienced officers within the force while continuing efforts to reform key areas of Malta’s security and justice sectors.
