Over €1M Investment In San Ġwann Social Housing Sector

Roderick Galdes, Minister for Social and Affordable Accommodation, visited the social housing estate in San Ġwann (Taż-Żwejt), where extensive regeneration works are currently underway on three residential blocks.
The project, led by the Housing Authority in collaboration with Housing Projects Solutions Limited, covers interventions on the façades, entrances, common areas, and roofs of the buildings, which together include 130 apartments.
With an investment of over €1,036,000, hundreds of residents in the community are set to benefit from these improvements.
The aim of the regeneration programme is not only to carry out structural and maintenance works, but also to significantly enhance the surrounding environment.
Residents will enjoy safer, more modern, and visually improved communal spaces designed to strengthen their quality of life.
During his visit, Minister Galdes emphasised that such initiatives reflect the Government’s ongoing commitment to improving living standards for social housing residents across the country.
“Every investment of this kind is an investment in people’s dignity,” he stated, “We want families living in these communities to feel proud of their homes. These projects make a real difference, not just in infrastructure but in fostering a sense of belonging and respect for the environment.”
The Minister added that similar projects are underway or planned in other localities across Malta and Gozo as part of a national programme aimed at delivering long-term, sustainable improvements for thousands of residents.
