Over €870,000 Invested In Ħal Għaxaq To Improve Resident Quality Of Life

The Ministry for Accommodation and Lands, through the Housing Authority, is continuing to invest in communities across Malta, this time with an investment of more than €870,000 in Ħal Għaxaq through beautification projects, maintenance works, the installation of lifts and improvements to public spaces.

During a site visit, Minister for Accommodation and Lands Owen Bonnici said, "This investment continues to demonstrate the Housing Authority's commitment to not only providing quality accommodation, but also investing in the environment and the communities where residents live, with the aim of improving their quality of life."

Ħal Għaxaq Mayor Karl Boxall said, "This investment is a testament to the strong collaboration between the Local Council and the Housing Authority. These projects not only improve the condition of social housing, but also continue to enhance our locality and provide a better environment for residents."

Extensive beautification works are currently under way across six residential blocks at an investment of €609,829, benefiting 54 families.

The works, which began towards the end of April 2026, include façade maintenance, roof waterproofing, plastering and painting of roof and staircase parapets to better protect the buildings from the effects of the weather and preserve their condition over the long term.

At the same time, work is also under way on the installation of two lifts in Block B in Ħal Għaxaq at an investment of €235,000, improving accessibility for residents.

In addition, during 2026 the Housing Authority entered into an agreement with the Ħal Għaxaq Local Council to carry out beautification, maintenance and landscaping works at Ġnien Emanuel Vassallo and its surrounding area.

For this purpose, the Authority allocated a grant of €30,000, which will contribute to improving public spaces within the social housing area and creating a more attractive and accessible environment for residents.

Also present during the visit were Housing Authority Chairman Robert Ducker, Permanent Secretary Ramon Deguara and Ħal Għaxaq Mayor Karl Boxall.
