Over 850 Students Benefit From Free SEC Revision Classes

More than 850 students have applied for this year’s free SEC revision classes offered by Jobsplus.
The programme supports students who either did not pass their O-Level examinations or wish to improve their grades. The classes focus on core subjects: Maltese, English, Mathematics, Physics, and Biology.

Eligible students aged between 15 and 29 who did not obtain a passing grade in one or more of these subjects can register to attend the sessions at no cost.
Held three times a week over a five-week period, the classes are designed to prepare students for the SEC resits in September. Each student may select up to three subjects, with lessons delivered by professional educators.
This year, 54% of applicants were female. The most requested subject was Mathematics, with 405 applications, followed by Physics (306), English (253), Maltese (182), and Biology (145).
The sessions are held during the day at various educational centres located in Mosta, Blata l-Bajda, Paola, and Victoria in Gozo.
Minister for Home Affairs, Security and Employment, Byron Camilleri and Minister for Education, Sport, Youth, Research and Innovation, Clifton Grima visited students attending the classes at the Malta College of Arts, Science and Technology (MCAST) in Paola. The ministers spoke with students and educators to hear about their experiences.
Minister Camilleri remarked, “Failing an exam is not the end of the world. That’s why we’ve provided support to over 6,000 students through this initiative since its launch by Jobsplus. This programme not only assists students academically, but it also helps broaden their future prospects.”
He noted that with the support of these revision lessons, more students are continuing their studies and improving their employability. He also highlighted that the initiative aligns with the goals of the Youth Guarantee, helping young people gain the tools they need to enter the world of work.
Minister Grima also congratulated the students saying, ““As a country, when there is collaboration between different entities and departments, we ensure that students have the opportunities they need to reach their goals and realise their dreams.”
