Over 806,000 Tourists Visited Malta In First 3 months Of 2026

Malta’s tourism sector recorded strong growth in March 2026, with total inbound tourists estimated at 321,652.
This represents an increase of 11.3% compared with the same month in 2025, indicating continued recovery and expansion in visitor numbers.
The majority of arrivals were holidaymakers, totalling 295,489 tourists, while a further 17,195 visitors arrived for business purposes.
In terms of age distribution, the largest share of inbound tourists was aged between 25 and 44, accounting for 36.0%, followed by those aged 45 to 64 at 33.8%.
Visitors from the United Kingdom, Poland and Italy collectively represented 49.2% of all inbound tourists.
Tourism activity also showed growth in duration and accommodation usage. Total nights spent rose by 5.9% year on year, reaching 1.7 million nights. The vast majority of guest nights, 90.3%, were spent in rented accommodation establishments. The average length of stay stood at 5.3 nights.
Tourist expenditure for March reached €234.1 million, an increase of 6.9% compared with March 2025. Average expenditure per night was estimated at €137.3. Visits to Gozo and Comino, including same day and overnight stays, totalled 153,116 visitors, representing 47.6% of total tourists.
Looking at the broader period from January to March 2026, inbound tourists totalled 806,563, an increase of 16.3% year on year.
Total nights spent rose by 11.9% to 4.5 million nights. Expenditure for this period reached €584.7 million, up by 15.0%, although expenditure per capita slightly decreased from €733 to €725.
Tourism to Gozo and Comino accounted for 350,196 visitors, or 43.4% of the total.
