Over 8,000 Students Begin New Academic Year At MCAST

More than 8,000 students are registered at MCAST for the 2026/2027 academic year, including 4,120 new students beginning their journey at the college.
Education and Sport Minister Byron Camilleri visited MCAST’s Main Campus in Paola during Freshers’ Week, where he met students and toured stands set up by institutes, organisations and student groups.
MCAST students are following programmes at different levels, ranging from foundation courses and diplomas to degrees, Master’s programmes and doctorates.
Camilleri said vocational and professional education continues to give students different pathways based on their skills and ambitions, while also preparing them for Malta’s future workforce needs.
“Today there are more than 8,000 students who have chosen MCAST to continue building their future, with 4,120 of them starting a new journey with the college,” he said.
This year has also seen a positive response in areas including engineering, nursing and community services.
MCAST currently has seven institutes spread across four campuses, with full-time, part-time and international students forming part of its student population.
Investment is also continuing, with funding secured for the Institute for the Creative Arts to move to the Paola Campus.
Freshers’ Week is being held in Paola between 5th and 7th October, before continuing in Mosta on 8th October and Gozo on 9th October.
