Over 700 Cats Neutered In 2025: Total Of Over 4,500 Since 2023

Over 700 cats have bee successfully neutered this year, which brings the total to around 4,500.

This was announced by Parliamentary Secretary Alicia Bugeja Said, who revealed that the neutering campaign that began in June of 2023 has been going strong this year as well.

‘This is an important achievement in the Government’s electoral pledge’, said Bugeja said, ‘which not only helps to reduce the population and disease among stray cats, but also supports the cat feeders who, with great dedication, care for a large number of cats across Malta and Gozo.’

‘As we announced last year, the campaign was also extended to bully breed dogs and those living in rural areas. So far more than 85 dogs have been neutered, another important step in continuing to safeguard the welfare of our animals.’
