According to the National Statistics Office, at the end of September 2025, the total stock of licensed motor vehicles reached 454,138, with passenger cars comprising the majority at 73.6%.

Commercial and agricultural vehicles accounted for 14.3%, while motorcycles, e-bikes, PA-bikes, e-scooters, quadricycles, and ATVs made up 11.5%.

Buses and minibuses represented less than one per cent of the total.

During the third quarter of the year, the stock of licensed vehicles grew at an average rate of 36 vehicles per day.

Newly licensed vehicles totalled 6,143, of which 60% were passenger cars and 27.1% were motorcycles and similar vehicles.

Newly licensed vehicles represented 58.3%, while “used” vehicles made up 41.7%, averaging 67 new licenses daily.

Restrictions were applied to 6,804 vehicles during the quarter, mainly garaged (36.4%), scrapped (33.1%), or resold (28.3%).

By type of motor energy, petrol vehicles accounted for 58.1%, diesel 34.3%, and electric/plug-in hybrid 4.5%, all showing notable quarterly growth.
