Over 4000 Maltese Elderly People Living In Elderly Homes

More than 4,000 elderly people in Malta are currently living in care homes specialised for senior citizens, according to information revealed during a recent Parliamentary Questions session.
The figures were requested by PN MP and Shadow Minister for Active Ageing Paula Mifsud Bonnici, who questioned Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Health Ian Borg on the number of elderly residents receiving care in such facilities.
In his reply, Borg stated that a total of 4,267 elderly people are currently residing in homes for the elderly across Malta. He also revealed that a further 1,446 elderly residents are patients living at the long-term care facility of San Vinċenz de Paule.
The figures provide insight into the demand for elderly care services in Malta, as the country continues to experience demographic changes and an ageing population.
