Malta welcomed an estimated 393,848 inbound tourists in September 2025, marking a 10% increase compared with the same month in 2024.

Of these, 371,238 travelled for leisure while 14,679 visited for business purposes.

Travellers aged between 25 and 44 made up the largest group at 35.4%, followed by those aged 45 to 64 at 29.5%. Visitors from the United Kingdom, Italy and Poland accounted for 46% of the total.

The total number of nights spent rose by 8.9% to reach 2.7 million, with 87.1% of guest nights spent in rented accommodation.

The average length of stay for all visitors stood at 6.8 nights.

Total tourist expenditure for the month was estimated at €465.9 million, an increase of 21.3% over September 2024. The average expenditure per night was calculated at €173.3.

Gozo and Comino continued to attract strong visitor numbers, welcoming 247,355 tourists, representing 62.8% of all inbound visitors.

Between January and September 2025, Malta received 3,075,483 inbound tourists, up 11.7% from the same period in 2024.

Total nights spent rose by 10.2% to 19.6 million. Tourist expenditure for the first nine months of the year was estimated at €3,029.9 million, an 18.7% increase compared with 2024.

Average per capita expenditure rose to €985 from €928 the previous year. Gozo and Comino attracted 1,824,566 visitors, equal to 59.3% of total arrivals.
